David Mandt
Senior Music Assistant
A BBC Alumnus and a degree in Music Education from Florida State University, David is choral director at his high school alma mater and lives locally with wife, Aria.
Erin Evans
Music Assistant
With over 30 years of involvement with the choir, she's been on staff for 17+ years, holds bachelor's and master's degrees in Music and Music Education from UAB, and is a devoted mother to Callie and proud wife of Blake.
Jeff Caulk
Music Assistant
Jeff holds two degrees in Music Education from Samford University, where he met his wife, Caitlin. An active member at his church, he has been with the BBC for 15 years.
Cara Thomass
Music Assistant
Serving primarily the Chelsea satellite of the BBC, Cara holds degrees in music education from both Samford University and Mississippi State University. She is choral director at a local middle-high school, sings with her church, and is a member of the
Iron City Singers.
Joel Megginson
Director of Operations
Holding both a bachelor's and master's degree in business management, Joel has been involved with the BBC for 20 years. He is an active member of his church, serving as an officer and choir member.
Sarah Rich
Social Meda Manager
Sarah became a BBC mom in 2020 and joined the staff in 2022. She holds a music education degree from Samford University, and is married to her college sweetheart, Matt. She and her family are extremely active in their church, serving as director of the children's choir, among other activities.
Michael Megginson
Music Assistant
A BBC alumnus, he studied Math, music, and computer science at Samford University. He and his wife Emily live in town with their daughter Lucy, and enjoy watching Michigan Football and reading classic literature.Â
Garrett Lenzie
Music Assistant
Studying music at Montevallo, Garrett joined the BBC staff to share his love of music with others. He works as an elementary school music teacher and a musician at his church.
Noah Burns
Music Assistant
Another alumnus, Noah is choral director at a local high school, graduate of the University of Alabama, and member of the Iron city Singers. He plays piano and guitar, and is recently engaged!Â
Allison Creel
Music Assistant
Wife of Kirk and mother of 3 sons, Allison primarily aids the Chelsea Satellite. She runs a flower farm in Shelby County and serves in her church as a cantor.
Charlotte Rumore
Operations
Working formally for the BBC for just over 2 years, Charlotte has been around for many more years, with siblings and children participating as choristers. She holds a degree in early childhood education from Samford University, and loves spending time with her family.

Music Director
Ken Berg
Mr. Berg is the 3rd of 6 children, with 3 sisters and two younger brothers. He was raised in Virginia and North Carolina. He loved reading for fun, especially the "Black Stallion" and "Tom Swift" books. In high school, Ken's favorite musical artist was Karen Carpenter, because she sang in his range.
Nowadays, Ken's family includes Susan, sons Michael and David, daughter-in-law Joanie, and Toby the Shih-Tzu. His favorite color is blue; his favorite book genres are mystery and fantasy. He has traveled much but loves to be home, and his favorite food is anything Susan cooks!

Susan Berg
Susan Berg is mother to 2 grown boys and a spunky Shih Tzu named Toby. Growing up in Atlanta, she listened to the likes of Carole King, The Carpenters, and Bread. An avid reader, she loves historial fiction and is quite the cook! Outside of BBC, Susan teaches piano in her home and is often involved in church music ministry. She holds a degree from Samford University, where she met a snappy guy named Ken.

David Mandt
Known for his expressive performance style, David began singing as a chorister in 2002 and has been involved with the Choir in some form or fashion every year since! He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Florida State University and is now the choral director at his high school Alma Mater. While at FSU, David met his wife, Aria, a mezzo-soprano and Music Therapist. Together, they sing with the Iron City Singers.

Erin Evans
Did you know that, Bergs aside, Erin is the longest-running BBC staff member? She has been on staff for 17 years, but has been hanging around the choir since her brother was a chorister, 30+ years ago! After taking piano from Susan Berg and singing under Ken Berg at John Carroll Catholic High, Erin went on to complete both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Music/Music Education at UAB.
Outside of BBC, Erin is the proud wife of Blake and devoted mom of Callie. She loves Disney World, Alabama Crimson Tide football, mystery books, and Legos. We sure are thankful for Erin, a truly life-long devotee of the BBC!

Jeff Caulk
Originally from Tennessee, Jeff attended Samford University, where he obtained two degrees in Music Education and met his wife, Caitlin, who also studied vocal music. They are now the proud parents of three children, the oldest of whom is a BBC chorister! Jeff and Caitlin serve together in the Sunday School and Music ministries at their church. Additionally, Jeff sings for Eternal Word Television Network and assists with its boys ensemble.

Michael Megginson
Mchael joined the choir at 8 years old, sang throughout high school, and joined the Music Staff during college. That adds up to 20 years of BBC fun! Michael was a homeschool kid in the Birmingham area who went on to attend Samford University, where he met his lovely wife, Emily. He majored in Math and minored in Music and Computer Science. Nowadays he works full-time as a web developer, but also enjoys singing in the choirs at church and at EWTN. Michael and Emily are the proud parents of 1-year-old Lucy and a 4-year-old canine named Jasper. When not hanging with his girls, Michael enjoys watching Michigan football and reading classic British literature.

Garrett Lenzie
Garrett is a Hoover native, Montevallo grad, and self-proclaimed Husky (dog) dad. He enjoys listening to both Big Band and Rap music and hanging out with his huskies, Luna and Kye. By day, he's an elementary music teacher; by night, he's a BBC music staffer; by weekend, he's a church musician. From piano and melodica to guitar and ukele, from singing to PE games, from weird words to creative baking, Garrett is a man of many talents.

Cara Thomas
Cara joined our Music Assistants this year, primarily serving our Chelsea satellite. She holds degrees in Music Education from both Samford University and Mississippi State University. By day, Cara is the choral director for a local middle-high school; she also sings with a local church and is a member of the Iron City Singers. For fun, she enjoys going on hikes and spending time with her four dogs: Peter, Shadow, Amara, and Hadley. Cara's favorite food is french fries, but she despises mushrooms. If you ever want to go to Greece, she's game!

Allison Creel
Allison began volunteering with the BBC when her youngest son, Kelly, joined in 2021. Last year, she joined our Board, and this year began assisting with music in the Chelsea satellite. She is the wife of Kirk and mother of 3 sons, ages 25, 22, and 13. Allison's world also includes 12 chickens, 3 cats, and 2 dogs! Together with Kirk, she owns and runs a flower farm in Shelby County; Allison also leads the flower ministry at her church. She holds degrees in Practical Gardening and Horticulture Science with an emphasis in Horticulture Education.

Sarah Rich
Sarah became a BBC mom in 2020, joined the Music Staff in early 2022, and took on the additional role of Social Media Manager in 2023. She holds a degree in Music Education and Voice from Samford University, where she was a 4-yr member of the A Cappella Choir. A former public school music teacher and private voice teacher, she now teaches group exercise classes in addition to her work with the BBC. She is married to her college sweetheart, Matt, and together they have two kids, Micah and Abby. They are extremely active in their church, where Sarah directs a children's choir, teaches senior adult Sunday School, plays in the handbell ensemble, and sings in the adult choir. She also serves in two Birmingham-based scholarship organizations and is a member of the Iron City Singers.

Noah Burns
Hoover native Noah has been involved with the choir for 12 years! He is a graduate of the University of Alabama, where he earned a degree in Choral Music Education. Noah is choral director at a local high school, where he is heavily involved with show choir and musical productions. In addition to singing at work and with the BBC, Noah performs with the Iron City Singers. He also plays both piano and guitar.
During high school, Ben Rector was Noah's favorite musical artist; nowadays, Neo-soul is his preferred listening genre. He loves Mexican food and chicken wings. His favorite sports team is the Atlanta Braves. Noah has a cat named Milo and a newly bejeweled fiancee named Courtney!
